Bangladesh had their best day on the West Indies tour thus far because to their accurate quick bowling and counterattacking batting. On the third day of the Jamaica Test, the tourists bowled out the host team for 146 runs, putting them up by 211 runs at stumps. Bangladesh grabbed a lead in the first innings after being bowled out for less than 200 runs for the second time in their history. Following some aggressive bowling from the West Indies fast bowlers, they performed far better in their second innings and the third of the match, closing at 193 for 5.

With their words, the fielders also added some fire. Generally speaking, Bangladesh seems to exercise caution. On multiple occasions, umpires Asif Yaqoob and Kumar Dharmasena stepped in to speak with West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite or a fielder. West Indies had lost their last nine wickets for just 61 runs earlier in the day after throwing away a strong position to fold for 146. Bangladesh’s first five-wicket haul was led by the great fast bowler Nahid Rana, who also displayed some frightening bowling.

Kemar Roach had two bruises to his shoulder while batting, contributing to Rana’s afternoon stats of 5 for 61. Later, Roach would only come out to bowl in the third innings’s 31st over, sparing Bangladesh from having to face the man who had a horribly strong record against them. Rana continued his brilliance from the second evening with a dawn burst that left West Indies limping. In addition to his speed, his height added bounce to the Sabina Park field. With a 142 kph snorter that caught the batter hopping at the crease, it assisted in Brathwaite’s removal.

Zakir Hasan was replaced at gully by a loopy low catch after the fend-off. Shortly after, Kavem Hodge was forced into an untimed pull shot by Rana, but Taskin Ahmed was unable to hold onto the ball as it came in from fine leg. Later in the same over, Litton Das removed Hodge with a brilliant grab, saving Bangladesh a run. When Taskin bowled Alick Athanaze off the under edge, he entered the game. However, West Indies was defeated by more than simply pace. Justin Greaves was bowled for just two as Taijul Islam got one to spin between his bat and pad.

Soon after lunch, Mehidy Hasan Miraz also took a wicket when he caught Shamar Joseph leg before wicket. Hasan Mahmud was not far behind Rana and Taskin in their fervor. Within the span of three deliveries, he had Keacy Carty caught behind, down the leg side, and lbw Joshua Da Silva. Alzarri Joseph was then easily dispatched by Rana, who put him on the defensive before foxing him with a slower ball. When Alzarri timed it perfectly, Mehidy made a tumbling catch at mid-off. The visitors captured seven wickets for 65 runs in 25 overs, capping a good morning session.

Following lunch, West Indies played three more overs before Rana had Kemar Roach leg before wicket to complete his five-for and give Bangladesh an 18-run advantage. Umpire Dharmasena was observed interacting with the slip cordon and Brathwaite, the WI captain, prior to the start of Bangladesh’s innings. However, Jayden Seales refused to give up and kept batting at the Bangladeshi batters until pointing to the Bangladeshi dressing room after dismissing Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck.

However, as Shahadat Hossain, who had been promoted to No. 3, began to attack the bowling, the West Indies bowlers’ and fielders’ banter became inaudible. He missed a few of lofted strokes before using a square cut to crack Alzarri for a boundary. Before Brathwaite dropped him on 22, he curled one through mid-on off Shamar. But Shahadat didn’t back down; a short while later, he hammered Alzarri through mid-off for another goal. But Shahadat failed after attempting too many lofted shots.

Shahadat’s innings of a 26-ball 28 with four fours revived Bangladesh’s spirits, but Seales lost his catch at mid-off after misfiring on Alzarri. Shadman Islam and Mehidy, who batted at No. 4 in the absence of the sick Mominul Haque, shattered boundaries as a result. In the following over, Mehidy hit Shamar for four consecutive boundaries. Before edging two through the slip cordon, he hit two consecutive drives. Then, in the next over that Seales bowled, Shadman and Mehidy struck three pull shots to score as many boundaries as possible.

After that, Shadman hit two more fours off of Seales, bringing his total number of boundaries in four overs to ten. However, Shadman stumbled soon after the tea break and edged Shamar in a similar manner for the second time throughout the match. The majority of his 46 off 82 balls, which included seven fours, came in that four-over surge. A furious 70-run partnership for the third wicket came to an end with Shadman’s departure.

After West Indies successfully reviewed a not-out call, Mehidy followed Shadman, was strangled down the leg-side by Shamar, and was declared out. Mehidy’s 42 off 39 balls included seven fours. After that, Litton and Jaker Ali each hit two boundaries off Shamar and Seales before Da Silva dropped Litton off Shamar’s bowling. Although it was a little challenging, wicketkeepers frequently take chances down the leg-side. But when Litton missed Greaves’ off-cutter, he fell for 25, nearly against the flow of the game.

Jaker held his ground and helped Bangladesh surpass the 200-run mark. Without Roach, West Indies captain Brathwaite found it difficult to switch up his bowlers. Although Greaves filled in, the key bowlers found it difficult to silence the visitors. Bangladesh put up a fierce fight against the bouncers of the West Indies, of all kinds, to secure a day in Jamaica that will never be forgotten.
