West Indies defeated Bangladesh by 322 runs at St Kitts thanks to Amir Jangoo’s undefeated 104 and Keacy Carty’s 95. After Jangoo became the first West Indian to hit a century on his ODI debut in 46 years, they won the series 3-0. He led the team in two brisk collaborations. Additionally, it is the fourth occasion in ODI history that the West Indies have successfully pursued a target of 300 or more. When West Indies lost two wickets in short succession, Jangoo and Carty contributed 132 runs for the fifth wicket.
He then joined Gudakesh Motie for an unfinished 90-run stand for the seventh wicket, which helped them win. Motie blasted three sixes and as many fours in his 44 off 31 balls to remain undefeated. Jangoo scored six fours and four sixes throughout his brilliant performance. Bangladesh scored four fifties to reach 321 for five. In an uninterrupted sixth-wicket partnership, Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali combined for 150 runs, setting a record for Bangladesh. Additionally, the squad hit 12 sixes in the innings, which is second-highest in ODIs.
But the West Indies had their own impressive performance at the bank. In the second over of the innings, Brandan King continued his form from the second ODI, hitting two fours and a six against Nasum Ahmed. A mix-up with his opening partner Alick Athanaze over a nonexistent run ended his innings in the same over. In Nasum’s subsequent over, Athanaze was yorked in an attempted sweep, ending his own brief stay.
The batting was then steadied by a 55-run fourth-wicket partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Carty after Hasan Mahmud had Shai Hope caught at slip for three. Taskin Ahmed gave the West Indies another shock by getting rid of Rutherford for thirty. Carty, who had already hit two fours, was solid at the opposite end. Before Carty attacked the Bangladesh spinners in the middle overs, Afif dropped him on 22. He hit Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a six and a four in the twenty-first over after hitting Rishad Hossain for successive fours in the eighteenth over.
Jangoo lofted Afif for his first six after hitting Nasum for three fours in quick succession. Bangladesh could have really lost the game in the 34th over. Substitute fielder Parvez Hossain Emon missed the opportunity when racing back from mid-off after Jangoo miscued one off Rishad. Carty was dismissed by Rishad on the following delivery, and Soumya made a low catch at point. Additionally, he dismissed Roston Chase with a spectacular one-handed catch, but Jangoo’s mistake backfired.
Jangoo hit Mehidy for his second six just after Chase left, and in the 43rd over, both Jangoo and Motie hit Mahmud for sixes. Before the two finished the chase, they both hit a four in the next over that Taskin bowled. Bangladesh may have won the day based on their batting performance. With a third-wicket partnership of 136 runs, Soumya and Mehidy saved the innings after a terrible start in which they lost Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das in the third over, leaving them at 9 for 2.
Alzarri Joseph used a bouncer to rush Tanzid, and the left-hander top-edged a pull shot. At first slip, Litton edged a wide one to King, continuing his terrible record in ODIs. Mehidy struck five boundaries on the powerplay, demonstrating his positivity right away. After the powerplay, Soumya, who had been dumped on naughtt, opened up. He passed Chase and Motie for sixes apiece in back-to-back overs after hitting Romario Shepherd for sixes with the upper-cut. Mehidy hit rookie Jediah Blades for a four-and-six on 45, just after Jangoo dropped Soumya for the second time.
After taking 16 runs off the over with a four, Soumya hit two more fours off his following over. After hitting Motie for his fourth six, Soumya was on a roll. However, he was caught in front by the left-arm spinner and fell the next ball. Soumya hit six fours and four sixes in his 73 at a run per ball. Rutherford’s accurate throw from point caught Mehidy short at the striker’s end, causing him to fall for 77 from 73 balls six overs after Soumya was dismissed.
Then, when Bangladesh lost two wickets in quick succession once more, Rutherford had Afif Hossain caught at the midwicket boundary for 15. But Jaker and Mahmudullah had the final 20 overs. In the first ODI, the two had already combined 96 runs, but they performed much better this time. Following Jaker’s first two fours, Mahmudullah hit his first six by smashing Motie to the ground, and then he hit Chase for his second, long-range. Mahmudullah pulled Rutherford from outside off to a six over square-leg after Jaker joined in the six-hitting by slamming Shepherd over cover. Bangladesh reached a solid total with 59 runs in the final four overs. In the end, it was insufficient.
