Both Ashutosh (in the dying moments) and Shashank (before) blasted fours over the goalie. It lacked nerve. It was magnificent. And by the conclusion, Kings had achieved their sixth goal of 200 or more, setting a record for men’s T20.
Even though there have only been four games, Rashid Khan’s economy rate of 9.06 is the lowest it has been this IPL season. Outside pressure may have forced him to return to the hut after taking a risk too quickly, but Sudharsan’s innings allowed him to bat at his own pace, which could only cause problems for the opposition.
In T20 cricket, Gill achieved his greatest score while batting well within himself. Even his most spectacular hit of the inning resulted from his awareness of a length ball and his ability to go beneath it. That is not common. In general, aiming for large results usually results in a few more misses. Still, it must seem like scant comfort on a night when he witnessed his side lose from a winning position.
