BD vs ZIM 1st T20I Highlights 5-3-2024

Watch cricket video highlights between Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh 2024 first twenty/20 International match, played at Chattogram.

Bangladesh’s bowlers dismissed Zimbabwe for 124 at Chattogram to set up an easy eight-wicket victory in the opening Twenty20 match. Rain twice halted the chase, but Tanzid Hasan, making his debut, stayed undefeated and led his team to victory in 15.2 overs with 67 off 47 balls. Following a successful BPL season, Tanzid was called up to Bangladesh’s T20I team. During his innings, he hit two sixes and eight fours.

After Junaid Siddique in 2007, he was the only hitter from Bangladesh to achieve a half-century in his T20I debut. Zimbabwe’s score of 124 against Bangladesh was their lowest since 2015, when they scored 131, although it might have been lower as they faltered to 41 for 7. Mahedi Hasan bowled sensibly for his two wickets, but Taskin Ahmed and the returning Mohammad Saifuddin both claimed three wickets.

The Zimbabwean innings was off to a promising beginning. After senior hitter Craig Ervine fell in the first over, 20-year-old Brian Bennett hit Shoriful Islam for three straight boundaries in the third over. Bennett’s three boundaries came from a well-timed punch off the back foot through cover, a ramp past third man, and a cover drive in the first. However, that promising beginning was fleeting.

With over 140 kph deliveries in his opening over, Taskin Ahmed set the tone for Zimbabwe’s following 30 minutes. Bennett and Joylord Gumbie, making his debut, found it difficult to connect with most of his deliveries, but Mohammad Saifuddin was the next wicket to fall softly. After a shoddy throw down the leg-side, Gumbie swiveled awkwardly, giving Taskin an easy catch at short fine-leg.

After Bennett was out on the first ball of the sixth over, Mahedi Hasan got rid of Sikandar Raza, the captain of Zimbabwe, for a golden duck. When Raza tried to do a lap sweep, he glove a catch and slipped. After three wickets in three balls, Sean Williams and Ryan Burl were removed by Taskin with the opening two deliveries of the seventh over. After Juke Jongwe was out for two by Saifuddin, Zimbabwe went from 36 for 1 to 41 for 7 in 17 balls.

The final recognized batter from Zimbabwe, Clive Madande, received assistance from Wellington Masakadza. While Bangladesh temporarily relieved the burden, they alternated strikes on a regular basis. In T20Is, the two’s partnership of 75 runs was the greatest for Zimbabwe after the ninth wicket. It almost shattered the record set in 1980. Masakadza recorded his highest T20I score of 34 from 38 balls, while Madande smacked six fours in his 39-ball 43.

Gratitude Muzarabani got his second ball to scissor through Litton Das’ forward press, giving Zimbabwe the ideal start to their 124-run defense. Litton’s white-ball woes persisted, as evidenced by scores of 0, 36, 7, 0, 0 and, as of 2024, 1. However, Muzarabani initially ran into wicketkeeper Gumbie in his subsequent over after Tanzid had skied a catch. The wicketkeeper lost the catch when they clashed, even though Muzarabani ventured near the approaching Gumbie despite the ball being well over the batter. Bennett gave Tanzid, who was on four at the time, a sitter at cover later in the over. Tanzid made Muzarabani’s following over even more disappointing by hammering two sixes and a four past midwicket.

On his T20I debut, Tanzid needed 14 balls to get his maiden boundary. However, once he hammered Muzarabani in the sixth over, the left-hander appeared more comfortable. Following the second rain delay, Tanzid went close to reaching his fifty with a pair of fours off Luke Jongwe. Tanzid had greater luck, but Bangladesh lost Najmul Hossain Shanto in the ninth over for 21. On 56, Gumbie dropped him a second time, awarding him a third life. Ainsley Ndlovu, who had replaced Masakadza as a concussion substitute, was hit for fifteen runs by Towhid Hridoy in his first over. With 28 balls remaining in the chase, Tanzid scored the winning runs with Hridoy still standing at 33 off 18 balls.
