In the third and final Twenty20 International in Dallas, Bangladesh defeated the United States by ten wickets thanks to Mustafizur Rahman’s career-best 6 for 10, which was supported by an undefeated century partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar. It reduced the USA’s series lead to 2-1, but they would still be celebrating a historic victory. USA was limited to 104 for 9 runs by Mustafizur’s six-for, the first-ever six-wicket haul by a bowler from Bangladesh in Twenty20 Internationals.

Bangladesh was defeated by Tanzid and Sarkar, who combined for 108 runs in just 11.5 overs. After going 6 for 43 in an ODI against India in 2015, Mustafizur’s second six-for in white-ball cricket came from this match. In addition to Mustafizur, wristspinner Rishad Hossain bowled excellently, picking up a wicket and surrendering only seven runs in his four overs. At least four overs, this was Bangladesh’s most economical T20I stint. However, Shakib Al Hasan accomplished a remarkable achievement prior to both of these landmarks.

USA rested its four first-choice players—Monank Patel, Steven Taylor, Ali Khan, and Harmeet Singh—after winning the series. After being brought in, they had a brilliant start as Shayan Jahangir hit Hasan Mahmud for two fours in the second over, and Andries Gous hit Shakib for a massive six over midwicket. Then, Gous developed an affection for Tanzim Hasan Sakib, striking him twice through cover and a stunning flip shot.

Gous hit another four through excellent leg to end the fourth over. Najmul Hossain Shanto dismissed Gous on 23 after Jahangir lofted Shakib for his first six in the subsequent over. Shakib eventually got rid of Gous in the same over, despite the fact that he hit the following ball for four. He became Shakib’s 700th international wicket with a score of 27 from 15 balls. Shakib became the first cricket player to achieve the milestone with more than 14,000 runs under his belt, while he was the 17th player overall to do so.

In the final over of the powerplay, Jahangir was removed off the field by Mustafizur, caught at deep square leg. Only ten runs could be added by Nitish Kumar and Milind Kumar in 3.5 overs when Mustafizur broke the partnership in the tenth over when Nitish was caught behind for three. Meanwhile, Rishad maintained tight relations on the other end. Milind was his lone wicket, taking a laborious 7 from 20 balls before being caught in the deep leg-side boundary. Tanzim had already removed Aaron Jones in the 12th over, before Milind was bowled out, as the USA captain for the day attempted a clumsy pull shot down Rishad’s neck at the deep square-leg boundary.

Shadley van Schalkwyk’s long-on four to Mahmudullah was the first boundary the USA had scored in 10.5 overs. In the following over, Corey Anderson struck Tanzim for a four and a six, suggesting that the home team was getting ready for a quick conclusion. Those hopes were dashed when Mustafizur removed Anderson and van Schalkwyk in the 18th over. He first got one to slide past van Schalkwyk and hit the top of his off stump, before Anderson chopped one onto his stumps for eighteen, bowling from the around-the-wicket position to both left-handers. The penultimate over saw Mustafizur put a yorker between Jasdeep Singh’s legs and force Nisarg Patel to give up a field goal for his sixth wicket.

While the USA faltered in the powerplay without their three first-choice bowlers, Bangladesh cruised through. Two half-volleys from Saurabh Netravalkar were smacked for fours by Tanzid through the covers. In the first over bowled by van Schalkwyk, Soumya escaped two misplaced strokes sandwiched between a four and a six. In the following two overs, Tanzid went after Jasdeep and Milind. After each hitting a four in Nitish’s over, the two hit a six off Netravalkar. In the eleventh over, Tanzid scored his third T20I fifty before his second six took the partnership to three figures. Soumya, with his undefeated 43 off 28 balls and two sixes, provided the ideal counterbalance. In fifteen days, the two performed their second century stand.
